What is a TD? ๐Ÿพ
A TD is a dog that has been trained to provide therapeutic ๐Ÿ’œintervention to a people in a clinical ๐Ÿ–‹๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ setting (e.g. psychologist, psychologist etc.) or offering ๐Ÿ’› emotional support to multiple people in a group setting within the community ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ (students, nursing home residents, patients in the hopital etc.) ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿซ
๐Ÿพ TDs support more than one person (strangers), and they donโ€™t live with strangers at all.๐Ÿ‘ฃ
๐Ÿพ TDs can be handled by multiple people.๐Ÿ‘ฅ
๐Ÿพ TDs are not required to ๐Ÿ™… perform specific tasks.
๐Ÿพ TDs must be very human affiliated, enjoy being touched/patted and be calm around people.๐Ÿฅฐ
๐Ÿพ TDs should have Nโ›”๏ธ behavioural problems such as ๐Ÿ‘ฃhuman reactivity/aggression. ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜–
๐ŸพTD Handlers ๐Ÿ‘ฃ should hold public liability ๐Ÿ“‘ insurance and have a risk assessment done for each facility they attend.
Nโ›”๏ธ legislation requires a ๐Ÿพ TDs to be certified for public access; the facility themselves will grant access to a TD. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿจโ›ช๏ธ
