I would love to see a dog training industry where trainers don’t disparage one another and can not only agree to disagree about training methods and tools but even put the dogs first by referring clients to trainers with different methods. I don’t think we will get there unless people are mature enough to let other professionals be and point out the extreme and transparent cases of abuse instead of using legislation and slander to eliminate their competition!
What does it say about your character when you slander your competition or try to outlegislate your peers? Check out the two sides of the coin argument from a few resources. From someone who supports the ban to those who are against the prong collar ban. Rant over.
How about this for thought: If you have already done the reward-only-based training, managing and ignoring, it didn’t work after a reasonable effort. Then what risk do you take by trying other tools and methods from professionals who are good at those? And vice versa?
