PAT 101 – What is the PAT?

I am Ariza, from PCC ATA Ubuntu Support. I travelled to Brisbane to be Assessed as a Trainer for PTSD Dogs Australia 20-30May 2022, which is to become certified as a GHAD Training organisation. GHAD is a Queensland government department that is recognised by all other States.

In this video series, I will share what I have learned, thus helping you prepare for what you are in for and increasing your chances of passing the PAT.

What is the PAT?

It’s a test approved by the chief executive to assess if a guide, hearing or assistance dog meets the standard provided in Section 35 of the Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs Act 2009.

Before you can insist on your right, you must prove that you can meet the minimum responsibilities, namely:

  1. The team is safe and effective in a public place or public passenger form of transport.
  2. The dog will be effectively controlled by the Primary Handler or Alternative Handler (who supports the primary handler).
  3. You must pass each of the nine elements of the PAT.

There are some attention-grabbing time limits in this article however I don’t know if I see all of them heart to heart. There is some validity but I’ll take hold opinion till I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we wish extra! Added to FeedBurner as well
