“My daughter…you must be exhausted”

Touching the Hem: When Jesus Heals the Battle No One Sees

There’s a moment in The Chosen—Season 3, Episode 5—that struck something deep in me. It’s the scene where the woman with the issue of blood reaches out, unseen and uninvited, to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.

It wasn’t just that she was healed. It was what He said: “My daughter… I know it has been a fight for you for so long. You must be exhausted. Go now in peace.”

As someone with what the world’s wisdom calls an “invisible disability,” I felt those words down to my bones.

When the Fight Isn’t Obvious

You learn to smile.
You learn to function.
You learn to push through—even when you’re running on empty.

The world doesn’t always see it. You’re not bleeding on the outside. You look “fine.” So, people assume you are. But Jesus sees:

  • He sees the fight behind the face.
  • He sees the exhaustion hidden under performance.
  • He sees the faith it takes just to keep going—just to reach for Him at all.

He Calls Her Daughter

He didn’t call her “woman.” He didn’t just say, “You’re healed.”
He said, “Daughter.”

That moment wasn’t just about physical healing—it was about identity. Belonging. Restoration.
And He didn’t scold her for interrupting. He stopped for her.
He chose to see her when no one else would.

I’ve Found His Peace

I’ve been that woman—pushing through the crowd of noise, assumptions, expectations.
I’ve been tired.
Tired of explaining. Tired of trying.
But in that place, I’ve also encountered Jesus.
And He gave me something the world never could:

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27 (KJV)

The world’s peace depends on everything going right.
God’s peace? It holds steady in spite of what’s going wrong.

It’s a peace that understands. A peace that quiets the heart even when the struggle continues.
It’s not passive—it’s powerful.

To the One Who’s Still Reaching

I’ve learnt and I believe

When I’m exhausted—He sees.
When I’m misunderstood—He knows.
When I’m clinging by faith just to touch the hem—He will stop for me.

I don’t have to earn His attention.
I just have to reach.

Because He still speaks those words today:

“My daughter… I know it’s been a fight. Go now in peace.”
